6 Ways to vary your fitness routine

Who wants to do the same workout everyday? If you find yourself getting bored with your workout  you are definitely in need of these ideas to spice it up a bit. The last thing you want is to not be motivated to kick ass at the gym every time you go. The gym is full of different machines that work the same muscles. Don’t be afraid to try something new.

fitness variationOne thing you want to make sure you are doing is working every muscle group, making sure that you stay proportioned is important. You definitely don’t want a nice fit upper body and a flabby bootie. The key is to be toned all over. One clue that you need to change up your routine is if you plateau and stop losing weight or stop building muscle. This means your body has stopped responding to your routine.

  • Try an at home game to workout: Get a medicine ball, put on your favorite television show and every time something common happens toss the ball up and catch it. Europeans have been using the medicine ball for years to stay in shape. Recently Americans have also found that this is a great tool to stay in shape…and you can use it while at home in the comfort of your living room.
  • Have a workout buddy: Nothing is more motivating than having a group or buddy to workout with. If you find yourself wanting to stay home and eat nachos, you have someone to motivate you to get your lazy ass up and hit the gym. Also once you get to the gym you will be far less likely to be lazy if you have someone to compare your strength too. Don’t get me wrong, if your workout buddy has been working out far longer than you have they will naturally be able to lift more weight than you will. Don’t try to show off something you can’t handle. Only push yourself to your own limits.
  • Punch a bag: If you don’t have room in your home for a punching bag, I am sure your gym has one. Let out some aggression on this thing. Go knock it around for 10 -15 minutes a few times a week. It not only is a great workout it will give you the chance to blow off some steam.
  • Get outdoors: If you have a river or lake near by, rowing is an awesome arm workout. If not, ride a bike, take a jog, play volleyball, there are tons of outdoor activities that will give you the same effects as the gym will. Plus you will get an awesome tan while getting fit.
  • Take a class: Chances are your gym has a huge variety of classes you can take. They have something for every one, beginners to advanced. You can meet new people and learn a few new dance moves as well. Zumba is a blast!
  • Change up the beats: Have a variety of music to listen to for your different workouts. Listening to the same beats everyday will make you bored fast. Workout music is essential to a good routine.
